Storytelling Mentors: Volunteering

About This Project

The Storytelling Mentorship Initiative began as a partnership between Cal Poly Pomona and the Boys and Girls' Club of Pomona Valley with funding provided by a National Storytelling Network Brimstone Grant, Americorps, and the Center for Community Service-Learning at CPP. Students in EWS 411: Education, Diversity and the Arts created storytelling lesson plans that integrated multidisciplinary standards which were then implemented with youth at the Boys and Girls' Club. The Community Storytelling Mentors Club at CPP, made up of a team of creative and dedicated college students, continues to serve the Boys and Girls' Club patrons by teaching children how to tell their own stories on a weekly basis. This site was created to share the work, featuring videos and updates of storytelling mentors at work as well as K-6 lesson plans.
